![]() ![]() Had time constraints or we would of drove. Last year we could of used the SPACE CASE/SKYBOX but we flew to Maine for our oldest Son's wedding, rented a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and took off for Acadia National Park and on to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and down the coast back to Portland Maine and then flew home. And yes we still go and we still drive, it is the best way to see the USA. I want to get the SKYBOX so badly, but both kids are out of the house and college now, there is just 2 of us when we go places and we have plenty of room with us in the Jeep so no need to put on the SPACE CASE when we go on a vacation. ![]() So here is this large box that is white and gray, and a beautiful 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is White and Gray with hand painted pin stripes around the door handles etc., custom wheels and so AWESOME with the Yakima Space Case in White and Gray on top. Picture this as I do not have any pictures that I can find, I could of swore we had some from Yellowstone. I do however own a SPACECASE 19, a 19 cubic foot box that I purchased in 1996 I believe, it was originally bought for the top of a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Well I may of just lost my first review as I was not done with it but it disappeared. The original Skybox has slightly textured matte black finish. Q: How do I tell the difference between SkyBox Pro, SkyBox Carbonite and SkyBox?Ī: The only difference between the Skyboxes is the look of the lid and the price. Drilling holes to mount a box in some other way could compromise its design, not to mention, void the warranty. The mounting holes in all of the gear boxes are positioned to optimize durability and compatibility with appropriate crossbar spreads. Q: Can I drill new mounting holes in my gear box?Ī: This is not a good idea. Look in the Fit List or Fit My Car online to see if the SkyBox/RocketBox boxes are options in the list of accessories for your vehicle. We need to consider weight capacity, crossbar spread, hatch clearance and other factors to answer that. ![]() Look in the Fit List or Fit My Car online to see if the SkyBox/RocketBox boxes are options in the list of accessories for your vehicle.Ī: Different vehicles have different capacities. We have also redesigned the mounting hardware to fit a variety of different crossbar shapes. Light weight is important because the lighter the box is, the more weight you can put into it because vehicles can only support so much weight on the roof.Ī: We have done extensive testing on factory racks to see which ones are strong enough to handle a luggage box. We use ABS instead of fiberglass because it is lighter and less expensive, while still being really strong (=maximum value). ![]()
